The Megalopolis series references a megalopolis, a densely populated region centering in a metropolis or encompassing several metropolises. "Megalopolis" is landscape as seen from a bird's eye view. Areas flow from one to the other, symbolizing the interconnectedness of urban, surburban, and rural environments, a virtual kaleidoscope of color, life, and land.
The technique I employed in this series was to set a myriad of colors in opposition to a color field to discover how they vibrate within that context. Combining colors, I juxtapose one against another, to explore whether there is contrast, tension, or flow, and to observe how they play off each other. Varying lengths and proximity of brush strokes bring the theme to fruition.
